"People don't wake up one day thin then wake up the next day and are obese," he said.

I SWEAR - that's what happened to me.
Yesterday, it was a 32 waist and today it's closer to 38. I have no idea how it happened - - it has to be Mickey D's fault! :stinker:

I truly get tired of lawsuits that are an insult to our intelligence. The more of these I see the more I think people just won't accept responsiblility for their own actions. Lawyers, you gotta love'em.

I can eat fast food with anyone, though I try to limit it quite a bit, but I refuse to eat McDs. If the kids really really want to go there and its been a long time we'll go, but I'll just get some water and listen to the cool bass licks coming out of my abdominal region.

Just plain pathetic - this lawsuit should be dismissed on Summary Judgment but I doubt it will happen

Maybe I'm "part of the problem" (though I'm not a plaintiff's lawyer, and I don't blame my own obesity on anyone other than myself), but I have a bit more faith in the system than you do.

It should happen, but it won't. The sad thing is I expect this person to win.

A discussion list I am on is discussing the same topic. While this lawsuit appears firvolous on the surface there are some much deeper issues. Alot is being written these days about the alarming rates of obesity in this country, especially among young people. McDonalds and other fast food concerns deliberatlely target youths in there advertising. They produce meals that are aimed at kids and tie into movies that are popular with the young audiences. In Europe there are restrictions on this type of advertising. A lawsuit like this could have the same sort of affect in this country.

How is this different than the tobacco lawsuits? There are warning labels on every pack, several lobby groups waging campaigns against them yet they were sued for billions. A large part of the argument against them was that they were targeting kids with their ads. Who are the clown and the happy meal toys supposed to attract?

The difference is, for years tobacco companies denied their products were harmful, and even promoted smoking as healthful. As for McDonald's, I don't see them promoting eating at their restaurant as "healthy," simply as fun.

They had the mother and her over weight daughter with
a lawyer on Dr. Phil tv show about a month ago. Saying
how they were going to sued Mickey D's and how food is
not good and everything is supersized and so on. Well
what about the fact that she a single mom, never home
to cook and care for the children correctly. By the way
her second daughter was not a biggie. I believe it was
your typical suit case, he did all the talking.
