This, is, not good. Depending on the scope, could change the face of the 'net.

I'm not sure about that. These sort of things go on all the time. Ebay, Yahoo, and other large sites are targets for this type of stuff. If you are a big boy on the Internet someone is going to try to take advantage of your systems.

I had a very minor fraud problem once with E-bay, and they handled it quickly and effectively. I think they've got one of the better security departments on the 'Net, probably an absolute necessity when running a site driven and controlled by the users.

Nothing much you or they can do about it, really.

BTW, this is nothing compared to what's coming with the Homeland Security Act.

Gotta go -- here come the black helicopters...

So far, I've never had any problems with Ebay, but there a lot of things I would never buy on Ebay. It's a bitch, though, having to remember all these different passwords.

Ebay scares me a little. I have had a couple of slight problems and even though they eventually got resolved I had to work hard to get there. Their customer service is very slow and not especially helpful.

I haven't had any serious problems with ebay, or with Yahoo auctions for that matter. Some people will bid on stuff and not pay, or take money for something and never ship it, but there are courts for that sort of thing.
