Democratic Senator Paul Wellstone, his wife and daughter along with other staffers were killed in a plane crash today....he was campaigning across Minnesota -- I don't know much about him but it's a tragedy to lose anyone, much less a bunch of people. :(

I always wondered how much good last minute campaigning really was anyway -- trying to shake people's hands at the eleventh hour...for this guy, wasn't good at all. :( RIP.

Wellstone was a champion of term limits and campaign finance reform, working closely with John McCain on both issues. He was, to the best of my knowledge, a very intelligent and principled man who genuinely cared about reforming the political system in America. He will be missed.

We frequently lose sight of the fact politicians are people just like and suffer all the tragedies that before people.

How awful is this now -- the pilot was a convicted felon who lied about his training and had never flown with passengers before...ugh...do you think if the person is going to be flying a Senator around they would do a background check on the guy?
