I've been an avid Art Bell listener for years. I discovered him years ago while driving across Texas. No matter where I was there was a station that carried his show. I got hooked . It was like listening to ghost stories around the campfire.
As well as having guests talking about UFO's( I've seen two ) and other paranormal stuff he had guests like Terrence McKenna, Michio Kaku, and others who look at the big picture .
Willie Nelson called from his tour bus and was on for three hours. Merle Haggard has been on as well . He's also expressed an interest in guest hosting.
Anyway last nighjt he retired AGAIN. And it's about time. George Noory's been filling in for most of the last year while Bell nurses a bad back.
There's more to this but I want to wait for your reactions to this post. Be gentle. I know some people have strong opinions about the show and Art Bell. I don't believe in ghosts. But as I stated above I've seen 2 UFO's and I was not inebriated when I saw them.

...who the hell is art Bell? Ufo's? i have enough with getting through day to day...xfiles was a fun show.dont think I believ it, though
They do Art Bell's show overnight on our flagship 50KW AM station here. When I'm up late at night, I'll occasionally turn it on, but usually I either work on the computer and lurk here, or find a SportsCenter rerun, game rerun, old movie, or classic show on TV I like better.
I remember the first two times Bell actually caught my interest about something, he went on about how clear it all was in the docs and pix on his website, and when I went there it was clear as mud. I dont discount the possibility of extra-terrestrial life (that would be stupid), or other manifestations of the paranormal, but from my experience this is just a case of preaching to the choir.
Sorry dude, but too much junk obfuscates whatever real stuff there may be there.

Agreed . But there are some gems in there occasionally.
Anything involving hyper-dimensional physics, etc. just really gets me going.
Steven Greer and his Disclosure Project related info are great.
It's a great show to listen to on the road, late at night.

It is nice to have something during an insomnia attack. I have listened to Art Belle. Some are good and some are just too way out there for me. I think I have an open mind but that does not mean I have a hole in my head.;)

The times I listened to him he had on some real crackpots and head scratchers. I do believe in extra-terrestial life (and loved Project UFO or whatever the TV show was on Project Blue Book) but some of the guys..well....they need some serious psychotherapy stat.

I've heard a little about him, but unfortunately never actually heard his show. I applaud him for coming up with some interesting radio programming. i'm sure I would have loved the show - even if it is fiction.

No...some of it is definitely not fiction. There's hard science in there as well.

If you are really interested, I will give you the actual numbers on the possibilities of extraterrestrial life. The short version is, I think there is intelligent life out there (estimating about 5000 civilizations similar in development level to ours) but the chances of us ever contacting them, let alone visit or be visited, are astronomically against.
For the real low-down, check into SETI (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) and for fun, read the novel "Contact" by Carl Sagan, or see the movie version with Jodie Foster. A fairly realistic look at a "contact."

That's the old version sweav
physicists in Australia have proven the speed of light actually varies and objects can theoretically move faster than the speed of light.
The universe is full of life and much of it alot older than ours. Who's to say what technology another civilization might have. It could be so far advanced that we wouldn't recognize it if we saw it.
Re: SETI...Seth Shostack (sp) is a frequent guest on the show and I find his arguments , which are the same as yours word for word, unconvincing and un adventurous.
Sort of reminds me of the Flat Earth Society or the HRE in the time of Copernicus.
String Theory holds that there are possibly millions of dimensions. Who's to say the objects witnesses see aren't inter- dimensional?
I don't really know what I believe as far as visitation by aliens . But I do know that John Podesta ( former Clinton Chief of Staff) is heading an organization that wants old Pentagon documents involving UFO's de-classified. Pretty weighty stuff in my mind.
Another figure involved in this sort of stuff is a former Iran-Contra prosecutor( name escapes me).

I like him better than Whitley Streiber, who only allows whiny guys with British accents who cannot give a straight answer to any question.
I sent the guy a check for my invisibility suit and he skipped town, though. Patent Pending!

OK, ytown gets it. Re Whitley: It would be good if he asked a straight question with no reference to himself.

Show me the research. This is my field, after all.

Well, I hope their explanation to Einstein is better than the typical drivel your hear from people claim the speed of light is variable.
I people want to believe in E.T.'s it fine by me but remember the burden of proof is on you. Repeatable, observable proof, not some crank chirping on the radio/TV ad nauseam saying "If it's not E.T., what is it?". Just because I don't know what it is doesn't make the true believers right. Likewise it doesn't make them wrong, they just don't have any proof.
