How far would you go to get tickets to a World Series game at the San Francisco Giants' home Pacific Bell Park?

Since the 14,000 tickets set aside by the ball club are expected to sell out in a matter of minutes this morning, fans who aren't so lucky will have to turn to alternative sources for seats.

Buyers and sellers have already posted hundreds ads on the Internet message board Craigslist.org, including one seller who has a very unusual proposition for the male fans.

In a message posted Tuesday, a woman likely to acquire a pair of upper reserve tickets to the World Series says she's looking to trade the seats for healthy sperm.

She's trying to get artificial inseminated and needs a sperm donor. She says frozen donor sperm from a reputable sperm bank costs $250-$350 a vial, and the insemination process requires two vials a month.

Two upper reserve tickets for a World Series game between the Giants and Anaheim Angels, however, cost anywhere from $250 at face-value to more than $1,000.

"You can bet that the child will be raised a Giants fan,'' the woman wrote.

(SFGate Update: Late Wednesday morning, the sperm-seeking post was removed from Craigslist. An official there said it was removed either because the woman had withdrawn it or because enough users had "flagged" it as objectionable, however, the site could not determine which of these was the case.)

Being a pessimist.... WS tickets are great but what about the lawsuit that you know will eventually happen. Something will go wrong when it is not anonymous.

And ... I'm moving this to JSI, as the baseball connection is tenuous at best. :)

Ok, this idea is just strange. I would love to see a series game, but would not want some child of mine running around out there without my knowing about it.

Reminds of that scene in Annie Hall, where Woody says:

What we're trying to say is that...we need some sperm.

This is too far. With the way things are now, I'm sure somehow the donor will be identified given the notoriety and the last thing I want for my two boys is for them to discovery they've got a sibling running out there because their dad donate sperm. But to the lucky donor, enjoy the game.
