It's offhandedly joked about in television and written commentary, but does anyone think that Miami (the Hurricanes) could beat the Bengals?
I, for one, don't think they would beat the Bengals.
But I think Miami 2001 (last season's team) would.

No, I think the Bengals would beat any college football team every by at least four touchdowns.
The first time they played, the Bungles would win big just because they were PO'd at being there in the first place. If they played 10 games, the Hurricanes win 4 or 5.

I have to disagree. I think Miami could beat the bengals, but it would be close. They'd probably spilt if they play a series.

i'm of the opinion that the bengals would destroy any college team.

No way the Bengals lose. Dorsey looks like a JFL player next to Kitna. Warrick and co. would toast that three deep zone that colleges play and Dillon would trample the front 7. Truly a mismatch.

I'm curious as to why this subject comes up so often. It seems that when people suggest a college/amateur team could beat a pro team, they are usually talking about football.
I would think that football would be the biggest mismatch of any of the major sports.
Could the best college baseball team beat a major league team? Not on any regular basis, but with its best pitcher on the mound, I could see the national champs beating the Devil Rays every once in a while.
In hockey, we had Miracle on Ice, which was basically a young college team beating a squad comparable to the NHL All-Stars.
Basketball would be tough but I could see it happening.
In football, no friggin' chance. Basketball requires different athletic skills than football. In basketball, you can have a long, lean guy with great skills step right in, and there have been high schoolers who can play in the NBA. That would never happen in the NFL, because you need more size and strength. The ages 20-25 are key ages in the development of an athlete, when boys become men. When you have a 300-pound college athlete, he's usually a little awkward and not totally in control of his body yet. It is very difficult for offensive linemen and cornerbacks to make an immediate impact in the NFL. It's even harder for quarterbacks. Guys like Danny Wuerffel can dominate in college but the exotic defenses and blitzes and zones in the NFL usually throw these guys for a loop.
Peter Warrick was a great college football player but he's probably not one of the 50 best receivers in the NFL.

i mean, with mark prior on the mound, a college team could beat anyone...

I thought I would share this web address. This was a web that got coverage in the Cincinnati Post

It is a serious attempt by a fan to have the league revoke Mike Brown's right to compete in the league. Interesting.

The Bengals would beat the 'Canes. As good as any college team might be, they're still not on that pro level. Now, if you were to take last year's Canes team, give them another 3 years together, and put them up against Cincy, then I think the Bengals would be in big trouble. Right now, I'd predict an easy Bengals win, with Corey Dillon running wild.
As for the Bengals, football fans in this area will continue to suffer for as long as Mike Brown runs the team. Really, it's hard to express the sense of hopelessness that exists around here. I mean, the most exciting news in the past year was signing Gus Frertotte, a guy who's never proven anything in this league. We look forward to Monday mornings so we can ridicule the team's effort.
If they can lose to Houston, the Bengals have a realistic shot at going 0-16. I'm hoping that they do, so that the fans might become so angry that a "regime change" becomes the only option here. I'm refusing to pay for even a single game this season. I'll go to Indianapolis instead, to watch a team that is run with some concern for their fans.

The annual ALLSTAR game between the defending NFL champs and the college Allstars was abandoned many years ago because it was almost impossible for the college boys to be competitive. Young men show considerable muscle growth after age 22 even if speed and flexibility decline some

Actually, I'd rather root for Miami University in Oxford over the Convicts...er...University of Miami or the Bungles...:D

I've always repected the MAC - saw live the three Tangerine Bowl games in the mid-70s in which the Toledo powerhouse (Chuck Ealey at QB) destroyed its Southern Conference foes. I was thrilled when UCF joined the MAC.
Although I got my degree from Stetson, I took a year's worth of classes at Florida Technological University (UCF's prior name) in 77-78 so I am a fan - I've got season tickets to UCF games

Not only do the Bengals win.. like 63-0 (they lose focus in the 2nd half, and don't score), most of the Hurricanes leave with horrible injuries...
The Hurricanes are shocked with how complex some of the plays the Bengals call are, and have no clue how to read complex schemes and advanced zone-blitzing techniques.
Dillon would run.. for like 400 yards.

The 'Canes would have no shot at beating the Bengals.
But I hope they stomp FSU this Saturday....I'll be at the Orange Bowl to watch it live!!:D

Bengals would win easily.
Mike Brown is just totally inept as an owner and as a GM. He couldn't spot Superman in a phone booth.
