Forgive me for bouncing into boxing again... I just can't remember the last time I was this excited about a fight.

I just hope no one throws their helmet after they've won the fight.

I can't get too excited about anything involving Oscar de la Jackass. Too much hype for a guy who's been beaten twice, but who doesn't seem to realize that fact. I could have looked at the loss to Trinidad as a one-time thing, but Sugar Shane made Oscar look terrible. I'll root for Vargas, but not to the extent of paying for the PPV.

I'd like to see this fight, it could be a dandy, but I just can't pull the trigger on PPV boxing.

It'll replay next week, but if you don't get HBO, boom - e-mail me, and I'll snail-mail you off a copy.

Vargas is going to DESTROY Oscar. It should be pretty fun to watch. Everything I've read up to this point indicates that Oscar is fighting for the $$ and Vargas is fighting because he HATES Oscar. I figure Oscar will spend the first few rounds running away, trying to counter-punch. Vargas will eventually wear him down and then lay a massive whupping on him.

Wow!

What a teriffic fight - and unlike Ward/Gatti, it was contested at a championship level. It was teriffic.

soxfan, that was about as far away from a blowout as a fight could possibly be.

I didn't post beforehand, but if I had I'd have agreed with soxfan. I thought it would be Vargas in 8.

It could have been Vargas in 5, but the better man won. As Vargas got a little tired, as opposed to getting weaker or slower, he got stupid. Very strange.

Vargas bullied around Oscar in rounds 1, 3, and 5, but never matched his gameplan from those rounds in any other round... As Oscar landed, Vargas didn't get angry or anything... he just fell for more traps.

This fight was an example why Boxing at its best is better than any sport save for baseball.
