1) Diamondbacks P Albie Lopez alleged left Sunday's game, due to a groin injury. But, MGR Bob Brenly admits Lopez faked the injury, in order to give Greg Swindell more time to warm up in the bullpen.

So, bunting while the other pitcher's pitching a perfect game is bad, but faking an injury is good.

2) On Sunday, Diamondbacks 2B Junior Spivey became the 5th rookie in the past 50 years to have a couple of 5 hit games. He joined Wally Moon (1954), Ken Hubbs (1962), Rico Carty (1964) and Chris Singleton (1999).

3) The Pirates placed P Mike Lincoln on the 15 day DL and recalled P Bronson Arroyo.

4) Astros CF Richard Hidalgo has been out of the lineup for the past couple of days, due to an 0 for 14 slump.

5) Although surgery has been ruled out, Diamondbacks P Armando Reynoso is not expected to pitch again this season. Reynoso is suffering from weakness in his neck and pitching shoulder.

6) Devil Rays MGR Hal McRae says, "From what I've seen, Jared [Sandberg] is our best third baseman." Sandberg is expected to retain the 3B job when 1B Steve Cox comes off the DL. Cox would then share 1B and DH with Aubrey Huff.

7) Whitesox C Sandy Alomar Jr. will have minor arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Monday and is expected to be out for 2-3 weeks.

8) A's OF Billy McMillon is leaning towards season ending shoulder surgery.

9) Brewers 2B Ron Belliard's ankle injury could be more serious than it was originally believed. Instead of a sprain, it's now more likely that he has a torn tendon, which would end his season.

Meanwhile, C Raul Casanova may need season ending surgery, if he has torn cartilage in his left knee.

10) The Pirates claimed minor league INF Mendy Lopez off waivers from the Astros.

Regarding the Albie Lopez thing - a fine is in order.

I have no problem with the fake - the fine would be for being stupid enough to admit it to the press. The D-back MGR is a fool.
