The rematch of the best fight I've ever watched live, Arturo Gatti vs. Mickey Ward, is set for Nov. 23rd on HBO.

Do yourself a favor, sign up for HBO in September, take in the new season of the Sopranos, and then enjoy the Gatti-Ward war. You'll be glad you did.

When I first saw the title, I though it had something to do with organized crime. After reading the story, though, it does sound somewhat intriguing, but I'll probably still miss it....

Actually, I thought it was Gary Ward vs. Gary Gaetti....with Len Faedo as the ref?

I'm a huge boxing fan - and I see Ward-Gatti 2, being similar to Morales-Barrera 2 - a boxing match, not a brawl. Morales Barrera 1 was a fantastic fight (the best I've ever seen, that had action that put Ward-Gatti to shame... BUT, in the rematch, Barrera boxed, not brawled, and won. Buddy McGirt, Gatti's trainer has been working with Gatti on being a boxer-puncher, not a brawler. And if you watched the first 3-4 rounds of Ward-Gatti - Gatti boxed - and beat the crap out of Ward. Once Gatti got undiciplined, the fight turned so amazing. I think in the rematch, Gatti boxes, keeps an eye open for the left hook to the breadbasket, and never gets serioulsy hurt in a one-sided whipping of Mickey Ward.

After such a terriffic fight.. I don't think you can live up to the expectations.

Don't miss this one fight fans! You will see each man throw at least 100 punches per round.

CP, for years people have been trying to turn Gatti into a boxer. And it never works - the man always resorts to what he is best at: brawling. Ward's "never say die" style, his ability to absorb punishment, and the "mojo" from the first figth should be enough to have Gatti back to the brawling by the 5th, at the latest.

I have no idea if it will "live up" to the last fight - but I sure will be hoping that it can.

True, true.. but as an amateur, and when he won the title back at lightweight, he did so as a boxer. He loses when he becomes a brawler, he wins as a boxer.

It should be a teriffic fight - you're right. It may not be a full-all-out-brawl like the first fight, but it should still be teriffic. Ward is a brawler. Gatti has much better skills... but one ward left hook to the liver, and you're right - bombs away.

I fear the inevitable letdown.

BUT.. to continue the HBO ad - they've got some teriffic fights coming up - Ward-Gatti, Morales-Ayala, Barrera-Tapia... I mean... good stuff. AND they're trying to set up Tua-W.Klitschko.

Good time to be a boxing fan. Plus, new season of Tony Soprano and family!
