Ok Cubbie fans. I am looking for a book on the Cubs history for my sister (she is a diehard...chose Wrigley for her honeymoon :p). Found some, but not sure which is best.
Any recommendations to a really good one that has plenty of pics and a full history?

Try Peter Golenbock's Wrigleyville: A Magical History Tour of the Chicago Cubs. It a pretty good size book that will keep you occupied a while. I found it to be quite enjoyable with a lot of history.
I also recommend that you go over to www.amazon.com and do a book search on Wrigleyville. A number of other books will be suggested to you also about the Cubbies.

An amazon.com search turns up 66 books on the Chicago Cubs. There's lots of choices. A bug is keeping me from looking over all of them now, so I can't do better at this time.

I really haven't found a Cubs history that I've been totally happy with, but Wrigleyville is good. Of course I delve more into the arcane and esoteric.
I did enjoy Lonnie Wheeler's book "Bleachers" about 1987, but that's not history.

Thanks guys! :)
I had done searches on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and was a little overwhelmed. I knew someone on here would know about a good one.
I am getting her Wrigleyville, and Memories & Memorabilia of the Wrigley Wonders.

I wrote a historical piece on the Chicago cubs here last year for www.netshrine.com You can find it under guest articles. It is titled "Will the Chicago Cubs ever win a World Series Again"? Just go to the home page and look for guests and click on that. Believe it is on the right hand side of the page. It is a good article even though I wrote it lol

One day, I'll write THE historical book on the Cubs, full of Bill Lange and Jocko Flynn and Ross Barnes and perhaps skimming over 1945 to the present, if that's OK, except for the real funny stuff like the College of Coaches....

"Wrigleyville" is certainly the most extensive book I've read on Cubs history, but it is quite long. And I found it to be quite dry as well. Perhaps, though, it was because I am not a Cubs fan. (GO CARDS!)
