I'm only 35 pages into it, but, I love this book already.

Yankee fan? Must read.

Not a Yankee fan? Well, if you like the true scoop behind some great baseball stories, told in the voices of the actual people that were there, you will enjoy this book as well.

Lots of learning too!

How many people knew that that Yankees signed Tommy Henrich as a FA after the Indians messed up his contract? True! Holy Catfish Hunter Batman!

Just curious...do Yankee fans have any discomfort now with the nickname "Bombers?"

Not me. Never think of it that way.

OK -- it came up a few years ago, I was working with our Sunday sports editor on a section and he needed a headline, and I suggested something that referred to bombing or Bombers, and he said he didn't really like using the term ever since Oklahoma City. I never really felt that way but since Sept. 11 I cringe whenever I see sports references to "bombing" or annihiliation or whatever.

As a resident of Oklahoma who lost friends at the Murrah building and a Yankees fan, I can honestly say that it didn't bother after April 19th or September 11th and doesn't bother me now. I've just never thought of it in those terms.

I did notice the book at the store the other day and will be picking it up as soon as I catch up on my current reading backlog.

SuperChief, BTW, I'm further into the book now, and still feel the same way - it's a good book.

I had put this book down for 4 months - - little time to read - having a newborn around will do that to you - - until today. I'm now about 1/2 done with it - - - - and, I must say, it STILL is an excellent book - - - - a MUST for any Yankee fan and very enjoyable for any diehard baseball fan.

About every three or four pages, I learn something that I never knew before...........great stuff. Really. I could not recommend a book more.
