What's up guys and gals? Heard about this site from a friend. I actually saw that post about that Xtreme Fan contest RadioShack is doing. My buddy took off his shirt and painted an NY on his chest and sent in the photo. I think he may have a good shot to win. Hey, if you want free tickets to the WS, its worth a look. www.radioshack.com and scroll down for the xtreme fan link.

Welcome, kevin. Glad you are here and looking forward to your contributions to our discussions.
But - and I suppose this isn't specifically directed at you - what's with the sudden surge in plugs for this Radio Shack contest?

Im not plugging, just thought it was an easy way to try to get tix to the series....I saw Ozzie Smith on The Last Word with Jim Rome and he mentioned the contest...that's how me and my buddy heard. Seems like the buzz about it is getting around...kinda curious to see who the freak is that will win!

Satch - I was beginning to smell something on the contest thing - so, I checked, figuring there was a referral clause or something. None found. Probably just folks trying to spread word for fun.

I think I'm guilty of being the first to start a thread on that. I received an email about it and just thought I'd pass it along because with all the serious baseball fans here AND the wealth of writing talent, I really thought someone on here would have a chance to win.
And welcome blonykevin! :)

when my buddy wins and im sitting with him....i'll be there yapping " i told ya so"....anyway, what's the gallery's take on the possibility of a strike. I say its a 100% going to happen, and I cant wait for football season to start. Been a Yankee fan all my life (back in the days of luis aguayo and mel hall) and its sad how they've made the game a joke. I know its not their fault for wanting to win, but the disparity is not enjoyable from a fan's POV.

Welcome Blonykevin...
Cool to see that someone else has entered the fan contest. I recently entered and I was hoping to have some competition so I can boast more when I win :)
No opinion on the game right now and the strike.. just positive thoughts that there won't be a strike and that the Yanks will make it to the series.

Kev -
There's been disparity in the game since the Knickerbockers faced the New York Nine back in the 1840's.
Think of it this way. Some teams are Coke, some are Pepsi, some are RC Cola, and some are store brand COLA. That's business, and baseball is business. (Sad but true).
