I just got an email from an address that looked like Lee Sinins's. The email said that Barry Bonds had been traded to San Diego for Tom Lampkin and 12 others.
This is a joke, right? The calendar does not say April Fools' Day, though.

It just has to be. I don't think that is Lee's email address. Probably just a fake post by someone who thought it would be hi-freakin'-larious.

Probably related to the 35+ emails that have hit my inbox today because of the list problems.
I feel bad for Lee (who is running a business) but I think I'll be accessing the ATM reports from the site if the email problems persist.

You can also tell from the fact that lee's address is in the from line. on his real emails, that doesn't appear
Its very simple to spoof an email address like that. I'm sure you can spoof the header as well, but I wouldn't know how.

Poor Lee. The people on the list were freaking out like it was the end of the world. I have been on lists that have gone bad and received hundrends of emails. This was that many and it looks like Lee has fixed the problem.
side note: It is fairly straight-forward to spoof an email address like that. We once had a co-worker convinced that Bill Gates had sent him a personal invite to a Microsoft conference. It was a classic prank.

In one of the messages he actually wrote, Lee chastised the person who spoofed the address. It was unfortunate that this occured during the middle of a time when there were numerous other problems with the list, and some of the subscribers only exacerbated the situation by posting continually.
I don't think anyone should rush to dump the reports because of yesterday. Lee seems to have taken care of the problems in a timely manner, much more so than I've seen in past list subscriptions.
