Link to a story on an ancient cookbook recently released to the public that the nobles in England in the 1500's used.

they probably went heavy on the seasonings since the meat would have been half rotten without refrigeration.
eel's not bad. problem is it's always sold live and I dont' have the nerve to kill it myself. can you imagine an eel squirming around your kitchen floor?

Good lord - if I have to eat chopped sparrow or gulls, you better believe I'm loading it down with cinnamon and saffron.

They're still eating some of that crap in England. Now they smother it in curry.
Want to try something sick?,,,,Kippers

Hey, tastes like chicken! How much worse can eel be than, say, calamari?

I refuse to eat sushi unless it's been properly cooked.....and I'll take my steak tartare well-done, please.
Hold the eel.

Spoken like a true West Virginian.
In a Seinfeld-esque moment, I stopped dating someone because they liked their steak well-done and didn't let me order a medium or medium rare without making a face....
But I think I'd need my sparrows cooked pretty well...

I generally order steak cooked medium. But the scientist in me insists on meats being cooked to a proper temperature. e. coli, you know.

Sometimes science takes the fun (or danger) out of life...:p
It's like I learned to never ask rhetorical questions around my friend the engineer....

Not for long....since the lifespan was much shorter....of course it may be the lamprey meat turning....

This cookbook reads like an Iron Chef standard reference.

At least eels don't have alternative tentacles ;)
Can we kill this stupid (word of the day) thread? I've lost 15 pounds since it started. Oh ... never mind, keep it going about another week (weck) or two.
