No "Cal Ripken Farewell Tour" thread?

I'm surprised.

The Orioles play the White Sox in Chicago today, and there's supposed to be some sort of ceremony in his honor. The first of many on his "farewell tour."

I'm not one of Cal's biggest fans...it's going to be a long summer.

No.

I don't dislike the man, I'm just not a fan. I don't think he's the god-like creature that Orioles fans seem to think he is.

And frankly, with all of the Cal worship that is being shoved down my throat here in Maryland, it's quite possible that I will end up disliking him by the time his final season mercifully comes to an end.

Shel - if I remember correct, you're a recent O's fan, no?

That could be the cause of it? If you had the pleasure of seeing Cal play from 1982 to 1996, like I have, you may feel different about the whole thing.

I still think if he hadn't got hurt in 1999, then that or 2000 would have been his last year.
