Duncan is suggesting Sosa and the Cubs were stealing pitching signs. He also suggests there might be retaliation.

Sosa is about the last guy I'd ever accuse of stealing signs, but I guess you never know.

Sour grapes. Plus it's from the team whose manager I cannot utter the name of, because I'm trying to be a good boy..... :twogn: :shakehd: :atd:

Call me crazy, but I don't think Sosa needs to steal signs. Maybe Duncan's boss (he-who-must-not-be-named) is rubbing off on him.

I agree Sosa doesn't need to steal signs.
BUT
remember that hence concluding that he didn't steal signs is like saying that Albert Belle's bat couldn't be corked, since he didn't need to cork it...

Sammy Sosa denied suggestions by St. Louis pitching coach Dave Duncan that Cubs coaches signaled him pitch locations during a game against the Cardinals.

Location? Shoot. That's all? When I saw the headline I thought they meant type of pitch. Location? :confuse2: Com'on. Instead of a press attack, the answer is simple - - tell your catcher not to telegraph location by setting up too soon; or, tell your battery to switch targets (like use a knee instead of the mitt as a target). Good catchers should be doing that every so often anyway.

It the Cards' catchers are tipping off location so bad that the coaches can pick it up and relay it to Sammy (as the Cards claim) then they should look in the mirror before making threats, IMHO.

Duncan was stupid to complain about this. It's like saying, "Hey, that not fair, you're smarter than we are."

:loud: Don Baylor smarter than Tony LaRussa. I love it!

Yeah, it's another "unwritten rules" thing. Boy, I love MLB whiners.
