When was the last time you held an Official Major League Baseball?
Just had this year's model in my hand - - sucker sure felt light, and hard. Still, there's something great about holding a baseball, no?

I got a foul ball last year at a Reds' game. Literally landed pretty much right in my lap.
It was cool just holding the ball, knowing it had been used in a game. Silly, I guess, but I was pretty happy.

Yeah, I don't have much in the way of memorabilia beyond a room full of cards, but the ball did join my collection.
Nothing to really seperate it from any other ball other than the fact I caught it, but that one will never be used for playing catch.

How many of you hold a ball or bat when you watch a game on tv?

Now and then, usually during the postseason i walk around with a bat.
[Aside: In big golf tournaments, i'm always holding a club while I watch]

OMG. This is like 12-step, I never would have admitted this to anyone if you folks hadn't admitted it first. I feel so liberated! I often put on my glove and toss a ball in the air (or practice pitching grips, though my hand is too small to do them propoerly) while I watch or listen to a game, especially at tense or exciting moments. :o

Last year, for my 19th anniversary, I was given a Tom seaver autographed ball. I dont collect sthis stuff, nor autographs, but, I opened this ball, couldnt believe how white it was, how good it felt, how I loved the raised seams...I open it all the time...I toss a ball around, but it is an incrediball, a softer ball that I trow around with my little guys. Who was it who said I always thought I had a grip on a ball, and I found out that all along it was the other way around?...

Must be something about game stress? At times, I've been caught bouncing one of the balls our dogs play with, off another piece of furniture, fielding self made grounders - - and, not stopping, thinking if I do a rally could be killed in the game I'm watching or something.
Pat - new baseballs - that is the whitest white, no?
That's another whole thing about baseball - - wood and leather - - there's something magical about both of them.

Goofy smiles all around. It's like we all realize how irrational it seems, but there's no helping it.
