I'm trading Shawn Green and Yan for Daryle Ward and Padilla.

Some in my league are protesting.

Thoughts from an independent jury?

Depends - what's the charge against you? That you're getting ripped off or that you're ripping someone else off?

They think I'm nuts, giving up a proven vet and a closer for guys without a solid track record.

That's ridiculous...Yan won't be a closer in 2 months and Green has no protection in the lineup (wait, I forgot Brian Jordan)

Is it a keeper league? Then it might make more sense. But Green is a stud. Besides the first year he came to the Dodgers he has been a consistent 5 category threat.

Padilla has looked awesome though.

Smed - something like this once happened to me. I quit the league. Betcha the one protesting it is a rival that doesn't want to see you make good on the trade, no matter what they claim in public.

Without seeing the total rosters involved it seems like a fair trade (I would give you the slight edge). Yan is a "closer" but for who? And where will he wind up. Green is a very good outfielder but not an absolute stud. Padillia is a very interesting case. It all depends what you think he will do. I feel he is going to have a good year and nice career. Starting pitchers with his upside are not easy to come by. As for Ward I think he can post some good numbers as long as he get the ABs. I am concerned that the Astros will sit him more than originally thought so the can improve the defense. Especially against LHP. This is far from a one-sided trade. Every league has the complainer. If you are ripping him off tell the guy to beat the deal and he can have the players.

Sounds pretty even to me. Green's RBI/runs total will be down this year without Sheffield in the lineup. Given Enron, er, Astros Field, I suspect Ward might finish with about the same numbers as Green, and Padilla might well outpitch Yan. Depends on who else you have for closers.

dont listen to them. in one of my leagues, I have the person who I consider the best fantasy manager i've ever met (for all sports - he's amazing), and he just made a trade i thought was highway robbery for the other guy.

it's all relative, and yan is overrated for fantasy and padilla has a fantastic upside.
