Yesterday, I had the pleasure of personally attending the Yanks/Bosox - Mussina/Pedro duel.

25 of the 51 outs recording in the game were via strikeout. Now, that's pitching.

Thought I saw that it's only like the 6th time in the last 30 years that both SP had 12 (or more) Ks in the same game.

Am I doing the math right, meaning that it occured only once every some 24,000 games since 1971? (Someone want to check me on that?)

With all the great strikeout pitchers of the last 30 years - one would think that they hooked up more often, no?

I miss watching Mike Mussina in an Orioles uniform. He is so dedicated and concentrated when he's pitching. He's always seemed to be a strikeout pitcher, and can beat Pedro or anyone else if his pitching & the offense are in sync. One of the most talented pitchers in the game! I miss him, but he's still my top fave MLB pitcher. (Even though I detest the Yankees!) ;)

Even 'tho he's getting big money, Mussina still doesn't get the credit that he deserves. Name any star pitcher in the bigs today - Moose has the numbers over the years to be right there with them.

Hey, I'm consistent - and play no favs.
When I started the post, I thought it was a Current Events item, once I finished typing it, I realized it was more Baseball History - hence, the move.

agreed. Do not see many like this anymore. Brings back
fond memories of games past. Many years ago. :) before
breadbox size strike zones.
