I started to read this last night (after finishing Hunter S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing letters), but then decided my mind was a bit too heavy at the time and started reading Kurt Cobain's biography.

Has anyone read this book? What are the thoughts on it?

I was a math major in school so it doesn't scare me...but I wonder if its readable and valid.

Its next on my list after Road to Cooperstown and Outrageous Fortune. Hopefully I can get your review by the time I get there.

I've read this book and found it rather interesting. I know that alot of statheads sneer when academics write books about baseball stats, but I thought that Albert and Bennett did a good job.

While the book isn't an all-encomposing work on sabermetrics, it does touch on many subjects (situational effects, how runs are created, streakiness, et cetera.) One stong point is the authors' use of graphs to explaing concepts. One weakness is that there is no index (a pet peeve of mine.)

I think that there is an updated version in the works.

I just looked and I can't even find the copy I thought I had. I wonder if I was thinking of something else 14 months ago? I wonder if I'm losing it? Sigh.
