What player has drawn the most intentional walks in a season while having fewer unintentional walks? I hope I worded that right.

John Bateman?

Nope, although I was considering asking a question about IBB where John Bateman was the answer. :)
I guess I won't do that now.
Much higher IBB total than John.

Hint time.
This player was a superstar. He's got an MVP award to his name. During a 13-year span, he had 12 years where he was named to the all-star team, and was generally considered one of the best at his position during this time. This particular year, the one where he had the most IBB while having fewer UBB, was the year he DIDN'T make the squad in that timeframe.

Not the guy who should be inducted with the Wizard of Oz. :)
He was also known for defense, though.

Nope, not another guy who should be enshrined with Osborne. :)
This guy's already enshrined. He played a bit earlier then the Kid and the Hawk.

Another hint. The 13-year period in this case was 1960-1972. Due to circumstances, this player was unable to extend the period past 1972.
He was also a perennial winner of another award during that same span.

Roberto Clemente

Arriba!
Yep, Bob Clemente's the man.
During the year of the pitcher, Roberto had 51 walks, 27 of them intentional. That was the only year you could stop Roberto after he became an all-star for the first time, he hit just .291 that year.
For some reason I am offended hearing Clemente referred to as Bob. Dont know why. Had to say so. He is Roberto.

In the 50's it was a way to make him more Anglo. It wasn't by his choice.
It grates on me just like it grated on me when Roberto Kelly was known as Bobby Kelly for a short while. It doesn't sound right.

My apologies, about 1/3 of the time, I'll refer to him as Bob seeing how other sources have done so.
I'll try and make it a point to call him Roberto more often.
Never the less, Roberto Clemente is still the guy with the most IBB while having more IBB than UBB. :)
