In the past several weeks, I've received many messages (PMs, e-mails) from members of the forum basically thanking me for making the forum available and fun, etc.

Many have also offered to help (financially) with offsetting the cost of running the site.

I will confess, every time I get one of these messages, I'm truly touched. It's a great feeling to know that people enjoy this site - - as I have put some time and effort into it, and, it's nice to know that was not a waste on my part.

But, really, thanking me is not necessary - - - I should be thanking all of you, and I do! Thank you.

I love baseball - - esp. writing and BSing about it. These forums allow me to do that on a regular basis - as well as allowing me to "meet" fellow fans that I probably would have never met before without this forum. I get as much benefit from this forum as any member. True, really.

Without your membership and participation, these forums would not work - - this is why I thank you.

Now, as far as the cost, well, the more popular the site becomes (meaning the more traffic it gets) the more it costs to run it. So far, I can handle it - and, don't mind it. Therefore, even 'tho some have suggested donations, I respectfully decline the offer. Well, in terms of straight cash, that is...............

if anyone wants to "help" the site, I say buy a NetShrine T-Shirt or a Mug or something from the NetShrine store (http://www.cafepress.com/cp/store/store.aspx?storeid=netshrine). NetShrine receives a SMALL profit (usually $2 per item) from the store. Doesn't seem like much - but, it really is - - - - here's how:

We've had about a half dozen people buy some stuff already, and, again, thank you to all of you!

With the "profit" from their purchases, which was about $16 or so in total, I was able to offer a "mug" as a prize in a thread raffle at no cost. (With shipping, a small mug runs about $15 and change.)

Now, that's a fun thing (the mug raffle) and it creates some excitement on the boards - - and, it costs me nothing in the end. Believe me, that's a "help." If more people bought from the store, I would do more things like that.

Plus, the merchandise is good exposure for the site - - esp. if you're willing to buy a shirt and wear it to some games, or purchase a mug and take use it at work, etc. More exposure means more potential members and more members, in theory, means more fun.

OK, this is turning into more of a sales pitch than a thank you - - and, the latter truly was my sole intent. So, I'll wrap it up here - - this all said, just come away from this with my appreciation for all the kind words and offers of late - - and, the fact, that I should be thanking you - so, in closing, one last time, I do.

Thanks!

At my office my desk is baseball central. From the lab guys, to the psych nurses to the Staples guy.......they all come by my desk and talk about baseball.

We have a new person in management. A few days ago she overheard us talking about how we needed a Pokey. Guess I did not make the best first impression.

The other day she sees me drinking out of this cool mug. She looked at me funny and said...."netshrine?" I looked at her and said..."why yes, it is all church all the time on the internet." Several of my coworkers almost died laughing. The night nurse later said to me "I thought that was the baseball site you are always raving about." I said, "it is, why what did you think I was talking about?"

She has been nicer to me but now thinks I am a religious freak. So thanks to Net's mug, I got myself out of a little trouble.

:loud: Great story HMRSF!

Glad the investment in the mug is already providing some dividends!
