To me, I think Brooks Robinson, and I think of the short bill on his batting helmet. Yaz? The hole in the ear flap of his helmet.

Bill Buckner = high top spikes.
Luis Polonia = monster size glove.
Joe Morgan = Little League size glove.
George Hendrick = Long pants.
Jose Canseco = first to wear the wrap around Oakleys.
Chris Sabo = goggles.

What other equipment-player associations are out there? Brett and Pine Tar?

I realize he was far from the first but when I put eye black on as a kid I was instantly Bucky Dent

Yeah, I could see that.

I also think of Bucky as striding back as the pitcher winds - and then striding forward again (Lau worked on this with him). So many hitters do this today - Bernie, Palmiero, Bonds............

When I see the flap dangling from the catchers
mask, I think of Steve Yeager.
When I see my wife in panty hose, well Jim Palmer
no lets not go there.

Good one on the flap!

Hockey-style mask = Charlie O'Brien
Double-ear flap batting helmet = Jose Oquendo (again, for me - perhaps another for others)

Batting doughnuts I recall the great Elston Howard.
Nellie Fox bottle bat & his mouth full of chew
Ryne Duran and his hanky
Gaylord Perry had the kitchen sink

Yup - he's the guy.
How about Stargell and the sledgehammer?

Was it Jose Canseco who had the warm-up bat
with the 3 wings on it?

Think that was before his time............
