10 The Reds signed P Leo Estrella to a minor league contract.

Estrella pitched in 2 games with the 2000 BlueJays.

11) The Whitesox signed C Mark Dalesandro, INF Justin Baughman and P Mike Porzio to minor league contracts and invited them to spring training. They also invited OFs Joe Borchard, Julio Ramirez and Mario Valenzuela, INF Tim Hummel, Cs Lee Evans and Humberto Quintero and Ps Gary Majewski, Arnaldo Munoz, Brian West and Dennis Ulacia to spring training.

Borchard is ranked as the team's #1 prospect by John Benson, while Malone is ranked #5 and Hummel is #7.

Dalesandro has a .624 career OPS, -11 RCAA and -6 RCAP in 135 PA, spread out since 1994.

12) BlueJays MGR Buck Martinez says he expects Chris Carpenter, Roy Halladay, Brandon Lyon and Luke Prokopec to be in his starting rotation, which will leave Esteban Loaiza, competing with Corey Thurman, Justin Miller and Brian Cooper for the 5th starter's spot, while the Toronto Sun speculates Loaiza may be released if he doesn't get the spot.

13) Japanese P Kazuhisa Ishii's agent says negotiations with the Dodgers aren't going well "to the point where I may need to go back to Ishii and prepare him for the possibility of not [playing for the Dodgers]. You're always far apart at the beginning of this process, but when you look at the pitchers Ishii has been compared to, when you consider the Dodgers paid an $11.26-million posting fee, where we are right now is disconcerting."

Dodgers GM Dan Evans says, "We have every expectation that we're going to sign him. There's a long way to go. There are no red flags. If there's a difference in opinion, it's about what we feel his worth is and what they feel his worth is. The process could take time, but that's fine."

Meanwhile, both the LA Daily News and LA Times are reporting that, contrary to previous reports, the Dodgers's $11.26 million bid to get negotiating rights to Ishii is refundable.

14) According to the LA Daily News, the Dodgers are trying to trade OFs Marquis Grissom or Tom Goodwin or 2B Mark Grudzielanek, to open up room on the payroll to go after Redsox P Ugueth Urbina.

15) When new Rockies 3B Todd Zeile hits his 1st HR with the team, he'll tie the major league record by homering with 9 different teams. That record is shared by Tommy Davis, Dan Brouthers, Tom Brown and Dave Martinez.

Meanwhile, Mark Whiten, who was invited to spring training with the Dodgers, has a chance at a share of record, while unemployed free agent Bobby Bonilla has also homered for 8 different teams.

Correction from last week--Orioles P Jason Johnson's contract is for 2 years, not 1.
