Is there any connection between the two?
Is there such an OPS mark that it's safe to say will always result in an OWP number? Like, any player with an OPS above 1.500 will always have an OWP near .900? I have no idea - that's why I am asking.

There isn't any connection, for several reasons--

1) As far as OPS is concerned, league average context is irrelevant. As far as OWP is concerned, league average context is of extreme importance.

2) OPS is not park adjusted. OWP is.

3) OPS considers OBA and SLG to equal. OWP does not.

Nevertheless, the stats are not completely independent of each other. A player with a good OPS (compared to the league average, so we can neutralize #1) is usually going to have a good OWP, assuming he's not bichetting his way to that OPS and assuming that he's not kingmaning. And, it typically will hold true for other adjectives other than "good." But, whether this is a linear relationship such that we can just accurately predict one given the other, no.

Could we not compare OWP to OPS+ (adjusted OPS) that takes into account league factors and ballpark factors??

I suspect it'd still only work when the OBP and SLG were at comparable levels.

That's probably the case.
