damn good player, consistently well above average, overlooked nowadays in favor of his admittedly much better teammate Cobb, his .311 career average as a Tiger ranks 5th in team history amongst those with at least 5000 PAs, above Crawford and Kaline

The guy only had a 14 year career with two of them as cups of coffee. His WARP3 of 76 reflects his short career. Normally that is too low for me, but he sported a OPS+ of 132, which is outstanding. He really had a nice nine year run that is just good enough overall.

i never even heard of this guy before, and i was surprised how good he was when i looked him up.

i wish there was info about defense and baserunning back then too
