He played in the major leagues from 1968 to 1988.

176 RCAA puts him on the low side of a grey area for me
unfortunately, Ted hung around a few years longer than he should have
through 1983, he had 217 RCAA; from 1984-1988, -41
I'm going to vote yes, but he just squeaks by for me

He's in my grey area.

Simmons finished in the top 10 in RCAA 4 times. It's interesting that 3 of them were with the same exact figure: 35.

He's the only player in baseball history to have 3 years with exactly 35 and only 4 others even had 2--

1 Ted Simmons 3
T2 Ezra Sutton 2
T2 Derek Jeter 2
T2 J.T. Snow 2
T2 Kirby Puckett 2

Of course, there really isn't any substantive value to that and I can't really vote for him on that basis.

From 1975-80, he was 8th in the NL in RCAA, with 168. From 1977-80, he was tied for 7th, with 122.

I give him a weak yes.

For players who caught at least 1500 games Simmons RCAA is 10th best all-time. I say that's pretty good.
