Here's what we said last year: http://www.netshrine.com/vbulletin2/showthread.php?t=13852

The Red Sox have had the better team for a few years now, based on runs scored and runs allowed. I expect no change in that.
I also think that the Yankees, aside from adding the greatest living pitcher, had a terrible offseason filled with inexplicable signings. Wright? Womack?
Of the bottom three, the only change from the previous 6 years was the injury-related collapse of Toronto. Baltimore still hasn't managed a .500 season in the last 7, and they're not about to start now. Third is there for Toronto to take it back if their young talent grows adjusts well.

As I thought about this my answer was more based on why not the Yankees again than why the Red Sox will win. Biggest improvement is a 42 year old pitcher with no knee cartilage. What else did they get? A 1B they got rid of several years ago. Jaret Wright, Carl Pavano may both be good this year but not necessarily any better than what they had. Bernie Williams back in CF???

NY has won every year since 1998. Why should this year be different? I took NY.

You bet on the Yanks until they lose. You bet against the Red Sox until they win.
Yanks. They paid for it.

In a change of pace, the second best team doesn't win the division, but as the Bombers collapse, the Sox collapse more and Toronto limps into the pennant. Orioles and Devil Rays remain where you expect them.

They will be ready to make amends for last year, and Boston won't be so wicked without Pedro.

Tough one here but NY will be a little more focused than the Sox. Sox aren't quite as hungry and will figure in their hearts they can turn it on in the playoffs again.

Yankees, I'm just not sure how well the Red Sox revamped pitching staff is going to work.

A team that just presumes that's going to the postseason and will try to turn it on there--sounds like you're also describing the Yankees.

I have to go with Paul White on this one who siad yesterday "the Red Sox will win 84 in a row now".

I think the Orioles will improve the most, with the Red Sox taking the division.
