A true concern, or just something being played by Sheffield to enhance his rep?

Since it has been bothering him for the better part of the season, I'd say it's a concern.

Fair's fair. Just speculating about a well-documented and often-reported nagging injury to a star player who is vying for a major award against fierce competition and might have a vested interest in claiming to be fighting through pain that has required season-long treatment without getting any better. Kinda like someone else here recently.

Jim Rice, I see your point - and, must confess that it is valid.

It wil be interesting to watch and hear (and read?) during the ALCS to see which player brings up his injury more often, Sheffield or Schilling.

Given the media in both cities, I expect each won't have to bring the subject up much themselves. They'll probably be asked a dozen times each day.

IMO, both Schilling & Sheffield reputations speak for themselves.
