Dodgers in 3.

Cardinals in 2. The Dodgers pitching is awful and the Cardinals can hit.

Cardinals in 4. I'll give the Dodgers one, but that's about it. I just don't think they can hang with the Cards. The Cards have too much O for the Dodgers shaky pitching staff.

Cards in 5. Dodgers rally to make it close, only to get blown out by the longball in game 5.

The Cardinals were the best team in baseball, so the odds are overwhelming that they can't win the World Series. Therefore, I'm going with the Dodgers in 1.
But, seriously, I like the pick of Cardinals in 2.

Geez, I didn't think I'd be the minority opinion here, but the Cardinals, who were unquestionably the best team in the majors this year, look awfully banged up to me. Bad timing on their part. Dodgers in four.
If Gagne's shoulder's not right, I never said that.

This one's split 3-3 so far..........

I'll go with the Cardinals in 4.
I'm not optimistic about their chances to go any deeper into the playoffs, however.

And what's up with the 10 am PT starting time on this? I'm going to have a heck of a time explaining a lunch break at that hour. You'd think that a game invovling a west coast team would be in a later slot.

I duno about the start time, but it must be nice to get a three hour lunch to watch the game.

I'm going to watch the game via gamecast.
Oh, Cards in 4.

I should have put a ;) by my lunch comment. Fortunately, we have a Dodgers radio affiliate in Tucson so I can listen to the beginning of the game and see the end (assuming no extra innings) at lunch.

Doesn't appear to be much of a game so far :)

This one's easy. Logic would tell you that with three games scheduled, the one on the east coast would be first, the one in the midwest would be second and the one of the west coast would be last. But the east coast game involves the Yankees, and all networks salivate at the opportunity to show them in prime time. Since MLB will cave to the networks every time given the dollars involved, they agreed to put the Yankee game in prime time, leaving them to choose between the Cards-Dodgers game or the Angels-Sox game for the noon ET start. Since that would have made the Angels and Sox play at 9:00AM local time, the Cards game was the default for the early start.
Usually I would have no problem with this, since the Yankees are undeniably a good draw for TV. But Angels vs Sox is probably a more interesting matchup this year AND would have been easier for all teams involved and all TV-watching fans. Alas, MLB is involved, so logic went out the window.

Well, FWIW, NY and Minny was the most interesting (meaning closest) game today. FOX made the right call.

Nice show of sportsmanship by the Dodgers post-game. Instead of slinking back to the locker room, they stayed out to congratulate the Cards and salute their fans. Maybe it'll start a trend - can't you just picture the same situation after the ALCS? ;)

:D
I don't know, maybe it's me, but it seems "rivalries" don't exist as much on the field, as they do in the minds of fans.
Do we have posters here who are old enough to remember the Yanks-Sox matches of the late 70's? If so, how do they compare to the games today?

I remember the 70's well. I think the players, on the whole, in the Sox-Yanks series then did not like each other. Today, I think it's more focused - for example, the Yanks hate Pedro, but, hold no ill feelings towards many other Sox players.

They better get used to Pedro, he may be a teammate next year :D
