The New York Yankees tonight became just the fourth team to post three straight 100-win seasons, joining Atlanta (1997-99), Baltimore (1969-71) and the Philadelphia Athletics (1929-31).
Is it just me, or, is it incredible that this has happened in the NL only once?
They've been playing ball in the NL for a long, long, time.
Braves should have hyped this feat more. It's deserving.

That's a surprise. After 100+ years of ball I thought it would have happened more often, especially back in the reserve-clause days..

Kinda interesting that 75% of the time it happened was after they went to the DIV format.

More impressive to me than three 100-win seasons in a row is the 13 division titles in a row.

I agree with Rascal, and with that in mind congrats also to the Yankees for winning the East again. 100 wins is nice and all, but winning your division consistently - more impressive.

Could that be a result of the unbalanced schedule?

Possible. When did it go unbalanced, 1995?

I believe the balanced schedule started back in 1977, and lasted up until a few years ago. If that's the case, then my speculation is wrong.

Well, I think they have to get an asterisk for 1994.
