Can a MGR just rip another MGR like this? Does MLB have any muscle here? Should they?

1. Sure. I'm sure Earl Weaver & Billy Martin had a few things to say about each other.

2. Maybe, but I don't see any reason why they should. Showalter & Guillen are mouthing off to each other through the media.

3. Why should they? Let the participants involved iron it out

Well it sure seems like Guillen just lost his mind. Some of his comments are very personal and offensive. Showalter's comments before Guillen's outburst could have been smoother, too.

The way I see this - - if Sony Pictures had two stars under contract, and the two stars were ripping each other, and potentially slandering each other, would not the head of Sony Pictures pick up the phone and call each star and suggest it's not in their (the three parties, the stars and Sony) best interests to carry this out further?

Does Bud have a phone?

Showalter was asked if he had a response to Guillen's comments.

"No. Not really," he said.

Later, he said, "It's not the first time I have heard that and probably not the last. At this stage in my life ... [who cares]?"

The Rangers manager did share his final thoughts on Guillen.

"I've been impressed with him," he said. "He's done a good job. I hope he has a long career."

Sounds like it's over as far as Buck is concerned. Maybe Guillen needs to take the proverbial "chill pill".
