D'Backs Fire Brenly

The D'Backs elected Bob Brenly as the fall guy for their poor performance this season. Brenly had led the D'Backs to a WS championship in 2001 on the arms of Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling.

My guess is this is the official announcement of the fire sale of Johnson, Gonzalez, and Finley. Unloading them may be tricky as all three are 10&5 players and can decline any and all trades.

Brenly always came across to me as the asshole that you could never get away from at a party..........

He stepped into it somewhat like Torre did - - getting the nod after Showalter primed the squad. Torre was able to keep it going, because his owner pumped money. Brenly could not, because his owner over extended himself.

Jerry C has no one to blame but himself. Brenly is the fall guy. On the bright side, many will now find there's no reason to hide in kitchens during parties.

Brenly is one of the worst managers ever to win a World Series. He did everything wrong in 2001, but thanks to Johnson and Schilling still came up roses. He will make a living off that for the rest of his days.
