I was at the game, so, I did not see the TV.
On the sports talk radio driving home, reports were that NESN never put the camera on him in the dugout, but, YES had many shots of him sitting in a corner all pissed off.
What's the story?

My initial reaction is that he really made himself look bad as the only one sitting on the bench sulking when the entire team was up on the rails at every rally. It didn't look like he moved the entire game. With some time to reflect, though, the guy did have a bad Achilles' heel problem, so maybe he was just being prudent in not jumping up and down every time a ball escaped the infield. I don't really have any idea if that's the case, and he sure looked like he was feeling sorry for himself in the corner, but he could have a legit excuse.

I thought Garciaparra looked sullen more than pissed off. I don't remember seeing any emotion from him of the many shots they showed.
I guess YES thought it was a relevant storyline while NESN didn't.
Conspiracy thinkers would liken it to YES not showing Don Zimmer on the bench last year - maybe there were directions from above not to show Nomar.

According to Will Carroll at UTK:
"Nomar Garciaparra was missing from the extra innings affair in the Bronx. His conspicuous absence will lead to much speculation--or, in the case of some Boston fans, gnashing of teeth and rending of garments--but the physical situation is a simple soreness in his troublesome Achilles. What is more troubling to the team is Garciaparra's reluctance to play with any pain. This lack of "cowboying up" isn't playing well with the Sox, their fans, or the front office. Sources tell me that the Sox have feelers out on what would be an impact trade. Anaheim will surely be a player after last year's near-deal during the A-Rod discussions, but other teams like the Cubs and Dodgers would love to add his bat as well."

On talk radio last night, one guy from Boston called in and he thought Nomar was sitting because he was being traded to LA, with Kim, for the LA SS, who would then be sent to Tor for Delgado.
Only problem there is: Isn't Carlos on the DL?

The rumor on SOSH was that Nomar, Kim, and a pitching prospect were headed out in a 3-way trade that was supposed to net us Odalis Perez and Carols Delgado. The trade was so supposedly close to being finalized that Nomar wasn't being played...... I think that speculation is a little premature.
If Nomar is experiencing Achilles soreness, then he probably does need solid periods of rest for it to improve. Of course - they just had Monday off. Bill Simmons put it well in his column - he thought Nomar was moving about as "fluidly as Lieutenant Dan at Forrest Gump's wedding." He does seem to have periods where he just isn't moving smoothly at all of late. He does not seem to be a fast healer, and that's frustrating, but on the other hand if he is not healthy I don't want him out there making it worse.

Delgado is on the DL.
But, that can only tampen a team's interest in him. It has nothing to do with whether he's eligible to be traded.
As Will and I have both point out here in the past year, the popular wisdom that a player can't be traded while he is on the DL is wrong. There is nothing in the rules that say that.
