Homer Alert

Okay -- here's the case for a Tribe All-Star battery.

Pitching:

Jake Westbrook has the best ERA in the league, so far. True, there are better definitions of All Star than that. CC Sabathia is third, and IS a legit All-Star.

Catching:

Victor Martinez is not as famous as I-Rod or Posada, yet. Both I-Rod and Posada will obviously make the squad. Why not make Vic the third catcher? All he's doing is leading AL catchers in Runs, RBI, doubles, homers, SLG.

The Tribe is about .500. The relief pitching is the only reason they are not leading the division, and everyone in baseball knows it. They deserve more than one rep.

End Homer Alert.

I posed this same question earlier. Unfortunately, I think that Varitek or Javy Lopez will make it ahead of Victor, which is a shame. There's too many good catchers in the AL this year.

After tonight's game, how do you argue against CC making the squad. CC, Cliff Lee, and Westbrook are ALL worthy reps (even with Cliff's last performance).....although in my heart, I think it SHOULD be Victor that makes the team.

Hafner deserves some consideration as well, but he's an unlikely candidate since the game is in an NL park and won't be using a DH. It's really too bad that Hafner's such a butcher in the field.

Lawton could be argued for as well. If you're reaching, perhaps even Jody Gerut.

AAAAAARRRRGGGGHHH. If they had just won HALF of their blown saves, they'd be leading the division......SO frustrating.

Anytime you are talking about a starting pitcher you have to temper it with his availability for the ASG. Managers shy away from guys who look like they are going to pitch the Saturday or Sunday before the ASG.
