1) Raul Mondesi says he's signed a $1.75 million contract with the Angels, for the remainder of the season. GM Bill Stoneman says they are talking.

2) Astros 1B Jeff Bagwell played in his 2000th career game.

After 43 RCAA/.966 OPS and 38 RCAA/.919 OPS seasons, Bagwell hit .524 SLG, .373 OBA, .897 OPS, 21 RCAA in 160 games in 2003 and is off to a .465 SLG, .411 OBA, .876 OPS, 9 RCAA start in his first 45 games. He has a .957 career OPS, compared to his league average of .762, and 672 RCAA in 2000 games.

3) Dodgers P Wilson Alvarez had to leave yesterday's game, due to a strained left hip.

After being out of the majors in 2000-01, Alvarez had 5.28 ERA/-7 RSAA and 2.37 ERA/17 RSAA seasons and is off to a 3.32 ERA/3 RSAA start in his first 13 games (5 starts). He has a 3.91 career ERA, compared to his league average of 4.57, and 94 RSAA in 307 games.

4) The Dodgers placed P Hideo Nomo on the 15 day DL, retroactive to May 20, and activated OF Dave Roberts from the DL.

Nomo has a split nail on his index finger.

10) The Devil Rays sent OF Jonny Gomes to the minors, when they called up 1B Fred McGriff.

11) The Rangers will send P Rosman Garcia to the minors and call up P Juan Dominguez.

Dominguez will start today. In 2003, he had a 7.16 ERA/-4 RSAA in his first 6 career games (3 starts).

22) A MRI on Padres P Jake Peavy showed no structural damage, but he has ligament inflammation. So, he's now expected to be out for 4-6 weeks.

When Peavy was placed on the DL on Thursday, it was originally believed he could be back in a couple of weeks.

23) The Diamondbacks had sent P Brian Bruney to the minors on Wednesday, but rescinded the move and placed him on the 15 day DL.

Bruney has inflammation in his elbow.

24) Phillies 1B Jim Thome was scratched from yesterday's lineup, due to his finger injury. He had a cortisone shot and says he hopes to be able to play today.
