Does he have a plan that he's been plotting for a long time? If he's planning to sell to someone more knowledgeable, more sensible, and who will keep the team in Baltimore... well, this should get interesting.

I found this part most interesting:

In the first year after Cal Ripken retires, do the Orioles deliberately want to field an unappealing team so that their attendance will collapse? Then, if the "team-for-the-Washington-area" movement gains strength, the Orioles can say, "We're struggling here already. Do you want to kill us?"

Anybody who thinks such a ploy is far-fetched doesn't know Peter Angelos. Nothing is more important to him than keeping a team out of "his market" -- which he considers to be a 200-mile circle around Baltimore.
