ok, the banning of group tickets for the Red Sox games is silly.
From what I understand, at many stadiums the Yankee fans often outnumber the home teams fans. Oriole fans I know say Yankee or Red Sox fans often outnumber Oriole fans at Camden Yards. Deal with it.

It's been a Yankee policy of sorts lately. As per the article in the Herald, the Yankees also have banned the sale of group tickets for the New York Mets' three games at Yankee Stadium this summer.
It's partly a supply and demand thing - - so much demand for these games and so few seats - no need to do group sales, which, BTW, most of the time were made to brokers.
Why line the brokers pockets if it is not needed?

Don't like the Bonds cheap shot. Did you notice how big and thick Tony Gwynn got in later years? And he had that year he hit .394? Don't want to point fingers or anything ... (that was a propos and tongue in cheek)
I think the Yankees are misguided in their seat policy :) It makes sense for visiting team fans to sit together in New York for safety reasons.
Any yes, why DOES Larry Bowa have a job?

FWIW Houston has a balco sized axe to grind with with Bowa, I belive he made a very similar comment last year about Bowa, one of the many reasons he's no longer in Philly.

Just wanted to expand on this a bit. A few years back, could have been three, I heard a guy call into WFAN very upset that the Yankees would not sell him a group package for Opening Day. His beef was that his buddies, or lodge, or something, planned a bus trip to OD every year and they all sat together at the game - and, after years of doing that, now they could not.
But, then, the defense was that they would not sell large blocks of tickets to OD because of the scalpers.
Seems like NY is just using this policy now for any game expected to be a sellout - and maybe that's what they mean by the 'little people' comment - to avoid scalpers?
FWIW, it was a Boston paper running to story. Could be paranoid reporting or looking to incite the rabble?

;) I did think about that myself for a minute.

This evening, Roger Clemens makes his second start for the Houston Astros at Busch Stadium versus the Cardinals. Something interesting to watch will be how Clemens pitches to St. Louis’ Scott Rolen. In a Spring Training game this year, Rolen went 3-for-3, with two doubles, off Clemens. Last year, in an inter-league game where Clemens faced the Cardinals – this was the game where Roger netted career win #300 and strikeout #4,000 – Rolen went 2-for-4 with a double on that game. We all know how the Rocket reacts to hitters who hit him hard. How will the Cardinals react when Clemens gives Rolen a brush back? Remember, in the National League, Clemens has to bat.
Well, Clemens did hit a batter - but it was Marlon Anderson. And, Rolen continued to hit Clemens in this game. Anyone see the game? Did Rocket ever come close to Rolen?

Nice article.
Bowa is a living rectum but his remark about Houston (who is out of baseball) is rather telling.
Tony Gwynn didn't bulk up, he got fat. Or fatter, if you prefer.
I have never thought of Clemens as a headhunter. He is willing to come inside and he throws very hard.
Ticket sales are something that are getting sticky. Even in KC, for the first time, if you wanted to go to OD you had to have a season ticket package of somesort or you got your ticket from a scalper. I think we are going to have to accept that the price of a ticket to some venues (the sold out ones) or marquis matchups are much less than what people are willing to pay for them. This presents an economic vacuum and is what the scalpers need to make money.

I know the story is a fact. There is an internet group that makes a yearly trek to Yankee stadium and can't this season.

Very interesting - thanks.
