In what's a pretty big bummer, Joe Mauer needs knee surgery. Twins put him on the 15 day DL. No word on when the surgery is or when he will be looking to get back in the lineup.

Hopefully, it's not anything serious.

Ouch! Bad news! He still could win ROY, though.

As Chris Berman would say (during football season) That's why they play the games (TWTPTG). Everyone was handing Mauer the ROY award before opening day. Predictions should always be written in pencil.
Even as a Tribe fan, I hope he recovers. Everything I've heard about him is that he is a decent kid.

Tough way to get out of the starting gates. Hope he can recover.

Mauer looked good on Monday night. I saw that game, and the Indians were absolutely afraid to steal on him. Tough break for the Twinkies.

The Indians are afraid to steal on ANYONE. Wedge still has the attitude of "only run when it's necessary"...."don't run yourself out of an inning/game". He figures if they hit the ball, it doesn't matter if they steal. Through 3 games they've hit the ball, they have more hits than any team in the majors right now. Heck they've even SCORED 6+ runs in every game. Still, they're 1-2.

Still too early to tell about the offense, RascalJones. Looking great so far, but I'll wait until May to see if they're really any better than last year.
But this is rapidly going off-topic.

You have to wonder if this is the beginning of the end of Mauer as a catcher.

Shame about Mauer, but he'll be back soon enough.
A lot worse has happened to a lot better. (maybe not in the first two games of his rookie season, but...)
I hate to see something like this happen. Hopefully he can get back and show us if he has the stuff to meet the hype.
