Miss Katherine Ann Fendley was born on December 14, 2001. We were able to take her home after getting legal custody on December 17, 2001. We hope to formally adopt her soon.

We didn't realize a birth mother had chosen us until Wednesday. (She procrastinated). She gave birth Friday, then we spent the weekend in the hopsital after she granted consent for the adoption.

:D :D :D :D

Skip, plaster this wherever. I'll see you all when I get back to work.

Smed, my deepest and sincerest congratulations. I think it's marvelous that you are giving a home to a little girl who needs one. Good luck and good health to all of you.

Congratulations, that's the best Christmas present anybody could ever ask for, besides that, we can never have enough Cubs fans.

So, just when's little Katherine going to get her own glove and learn to catch?

Congrats on the new lifelong gift and responsibility! I hope she turns into a beautiful human being with your family's guidance.

Outstanding!! Hope life deals your whole family a lifetime of happiness.
BTW, anyone who says having girls puts an end to your dream of having a ballplayer, I've got an 11 yr. old who will strike you out.

God bless

Smed,

Congratulations on your new addition to your family. From one person who has changed his name to honor the person who had the greatest impact on his life, I hope some day your new one will do the same!

Congrats!!! What wonderful news, thanks for sharing! Take her to the ballpark and make her a fan. Long after you have passed she will remember and look fondley of that time. Play catch! Baseball needs more lady fans........but more importantly little girls need a dad with a good breaking ball!

I guess first priority would be a great person, well brought up, mannerly and ladylike, self-respect. Afterwards, if she can know a good ballgame when she sees it and recall a few, that's a plus and a great start.

The amazing thing is, the player who will probably become her first ever favorite Cub hasn't even been signed to a pro contract yet. That will make ya feel old in a hurry.

Holy Cow! Hey-Hey!

Thanks everyone:D

This has been a wonderful Christmas.

Now if we can just get her to sleep from 11PM to 6AM straight through. (She made 10PM to 3:30 last night....)

I'm curious just how many boxes of diapers and cans of baby food have you gone through so far? How many bedtime stories have you made up and sweet lullabyes have you both sung w/little Miss Katherine on your knee?

Too cool! Almost all of my nieces and nephews are adopted. No one ever got so much love. Awesome.

You'll have to test a theory of mine. I think that people who can't have a child, then adopt, often end up having one the old-fashioned way later. Mostly because the pressure is off.

Well, considering that last night I put Katie to bed at 11:00, and she woke up at 1:30, didn't get to sleep until 3:00 then woke up at 5:30 (and my wife took care of her because she's taking time off from work while I'm back slaving to the grind again (gratuitous Skid Row reference)) I don't think the baby making part will be active soon.
