The backwards Ramon makes a lot of valid points here. And, reading them over, I think he's better smart to get a back-up test, if that is possible. Thoughts?

I think it's a good idea. Considering that a player's reputation and career could be jeapordized by a dirty test, it's a good idea to make sure that any such test is valid. And that's especially true with the witch hunt mentality that seems to be breaking out.

I think Nomar's medical credentials are sorely lacking. All his concerns are procedural. If he wants to argue that people's names shouldn't be splatter all over the place due to the results of one test he has a point. That is a simple procedural thing that is easily addressed. Even the IOC doesn't hammer people over one test. There is always a backup test.

As far as Nomar going to his own doctor, that is laughable. That would truly be a "controlled" test. False positives can occur, but they are a small percentage and when combined with the second test reduce the chances to minuscule.

I think he is 100% correct. It is smart to be proactive. Any pro ballplayer who has been in the top 10 for MVP should. This is not going away, it is only going to get worse. :(
