I know there is normal waivers in which a team can pull a guy back if he's claimed, and then there's irrevocable waivers, where I'm assuming a team can't pull a player back. When are each used? Are there deadlines during the season for these?
I guess the reason I'm asking is- the Brewers lost Luis Martinez to the Cardinals yesterday after the Cards claimed him off waivers. Is there any possibility that a GM can mistakenly put a guy on waivers and not be able to pull him back? Melvin probably did it because of the character issues there, but I'm just speculating.
