WS leaders, pitchers; Lefty Grove (Philadelphia) 27, Tommy Thomas (Chicago) 26, Dolly Gray (St. Louis) 23, Waite Hoyt (New York) and Sad Sam Jones (Washington) 22.

WARP3: Ruth 12.3, Gehrig 13.2, Manush 9.1, Combs 7.2, Goslin 9.7, Kamm 7.4, Bishop 7.9. Grove 8.6, Thomas 7.8, Gray 6.1, Hoyt 7.1, Jones 7.4.

Best player: Lou Gehrig. Ruth holds a bit of an edge in OPS, but by this time Ruth was getting pretty slow in the field. I think Lou makes it up on defense.

Best pitcher: Lefty Grove, starting a tradition.

Best Hitter: Babe Ruth
Gehrig was good again but Ruth was a little better. It would be like walking Barry Bonds to get to Albert Pujols.

Best Pitcher: Lefty Grove
May be the best pitcher ever. Grove went 24-8 with a ERA+ of 155 for the second place Athletics.
