Ruth was ineligible as a previous winner. I don't know what the guy who put Lazzeri first was thinking.

Best player: Babe Ruth. Gehrig was close, but the Babe was the best, 60 homers and all.

Best pitcher: Ted Lyons. Teammate Tommy Thomas was close, and Lefty Grove is making noise here, but Lyons was the AL's best pitcher in 1927, as he was during all the mid-1920s.

Best rookie: Wilcy Moore gave the Yankees' staff a big boost, mostly coming out of the bullpen.

Best Hitter: Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig
That's a one two punch that no team has probably ever matched. Gehrig had his best season and that was just enough to be as good as Ruth.

Best Pitcher: Wilcy Moore
The thirty year old went 19-7 with 13 saves in 213 innings in his first season.
