Minor leagues

I'm getting geared up to add a few more titles to my baseball book collection. I was hoping to find a few recommendations as far as books on the minor leagues go. I'm especially interested in histories of various leagues and teams. Early era's are preferable, though I wouldn't shy away from books about more recent teams and leagues.

Typed a long message reply to you, only to have it not work. I also collect baseball books and have a substantial interest in the minor leagues (for me 1930-1960 or so). I have a fair number of recommendations, mostly on the old PCL which became very compelling. I got a couple of books and then really enjoyed branching out reading about other teams in that league. Do you have any specific geography, league or classification that most interests you?

I duly noted the 2 books in that thread Gyb. I am looking for general suggestions of books easily available on amazon. I don't really get into looking for used books.

So, I'm looking for histories of different teams and leagues. Anything that anyone has found particularly interesting.

You might czech out "Stolen Season: A Journey Through America and Baseball's Minor Leagues" by David Lamb.
This book is not so much history, rather a diary of Lamb's trip across the country in a rv, visiting various minor league teams and parks, with an emphasis on the Boston/Milwaukee Braves...
