A high school pitcher from our country (Taiwan) recently signed agent's contract with IBB (International Baseball Bureau) and its reported that this firm will charge him 15% of signing bonus by contract. But according to my research in the web that the standard baseball player agent's fee is 3-5%, and I found one source said that 5% agent fee is mandated.(http://www.tbwt.com/views/andre/andre_09-23-99.asp) Is there any law or act mandating agent's fee? Does anyone know about this and could help me about this question? Thanks a lot.
This Taiwanese pitcher named Cha An Huang and he got 92-94 mph fastball. Still young and not good control, but he really got some heat in his heater.

At one time, 20% was a standard fee, I believe. The players' union may have acted to control this percentage. Agents do provide many services besides negotiating the contract, however.

I don't know anything about what the standard fees for agents are (though 15% seems high). However, I did like seeing the Highlight reel of the pitcher. Its interesting to see how similar the broadcast of the game looks like an american broadcast. The scorebox in the upper left corner looks like it could be on just about any station. Looks like if I were to ever visit Taiwan, I could watch a baseball game on tv and know exactly whats going on.

It's almost the same in Taiwan & in USA, the only difference is how many camera used, and the most important, skill.

For agents in the US, the union sets the standard agents fee. I believe that agents must be cleared with the union. Those rules do not apply to foreigners until the foreigners become members of the MLB union.

There's no set fee. It is "negotiable between the player and agent, but must be set by contract." 3-5% is normal, but it depends on what services are being offered. I'd expect it to be slightly higher for overseas clients, but not that much.
