Missionary Man

Hello, all. Glad to be on board.
Since talking about oneself seems to be the order of the day in this forum, I'll indulge my ego and let fly with the self-promotion!
I'm originally from Portland, OR, but have spent the last 10+ years in Chicago, and will be staying here for the rest of my natural life (I am, as yet, unwilling to speak for the unnatural portion). I didn't really follow baseball closely until we got cable in 1982, and then I discovered the Cubs on WGN, and have been following faithfully and achingly ever since.
I moved to Chicago in 1993 to attend graduate school (The Theatre School at DePaul University, for an MFA in Acting), after graduating from Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA (the Fighting Missionaries, hence the handle). I fell in love with the city, and have made my home here ever since, attending as many contests of my beloved Cubs as scheduling and funds would allow.
Several years ago, I was lucky enough to stumble upon the writings of Rob Neyer, which led in turn to reading Baseball Prospectus, Baseball Primer, Bill James, and many other of the wonderful "new school" of baseball writers and analysts who have popped up of late. All have led to my following the game as a whole with more passion than ever.
Thanks for letting my hold forth here, and I hope to be joining the discussions soon!
