Now that they have found Mad Cow disease in WA does anyone plan on changing their eating habits to not eat beef? I stopped buying beef a few months ago based on the price, but I still like to go out and get a burger occasionally. I may stop that for awhile until this thing gets sorted out more. What about the rest of you all?

I rarely eat red meat - maybe once every few months, if that. This will probably stop me from eating it even that often. It's likely just being overly cautious, since I don't expect an outbreak, but the effects of the disease are horrible enough to stop me.

Nice to know Washington is famous for something else now...*scoff*

Of course, I couldn't care either way...I'll still consume about as much meat as I did before. I mean, far as I've read, it seems like it was isolated to a cow or two in Yakima, it's not epidemic, pandemic, malady, etc. status yet.

Maybe it's me being nonchalant, but I'm not worried about anything at this moment.

Somewhat related, boy, I bet McDonald's, Burger King and Wendy's is glad they don't use beef in their burgers! :stinker:

Hard to say - I have no idea where it's going to go from here.

I'm going to try to stay away from beef for the time being. I'll wait until more is known. This isolated little disease killed like 150 people in Great Britain a few years ago. Besides, Chicken and Fish aren't that bad are they?

153 people have died from vCJD in 18 years in the whole world.

80 people in the US were hit by lightning last year.

You guys are always quoting the numbers. Do the math!

17,500 people were killed in auto accidents last year. Have you quit driving or riding in cars?

I'm going to eat my beef!

The beef I have in the freezer is grown by my sister and her husband, and butchered in a local shop.

No worries here.
