Name the only pitcher to have a season where he had more saves than runners allowed (hits + walks + HBP's)?? Be sure to identify the season.

Name the only pitcher to have a season where he had more saves than runners allowed (hits + walks + HBP's)?? Be sure to identify the season. I would have to go with Dennis Eckersley in 1990.

Although these guys weren't even as close as Eckersley, they do qualify for this one:
Lou Bierbauer--1887; 1 save, 0 BR
George Sisler--1920; 1 save, 0 BR
Ty Cobb--1925; 1 save, 0 BR
George Gick--1937; 1 save, 0 BR
Cliff Ross--1954; 1 save, 0 BR
Joey Jay--1957; 1 save, 0 BR
Don Carman--1983; 1 save, 0 BR

Of those, all were 'pitchers' except Cobb, Sisler, and Bierbauer.
