this surprised me, but i guess it's fallout from tejada going to BAL.
1-yr, $2.5 mil (w/ performance bonuses of 900K) and they avoid arbitration.

Yes, he's the consolation prize for Tejada. A bit of a disappointment for the Mariners.

guess they thought the other available SS (Aurilia, Clayton, Cruz, Hernandez, Larkin, Ordonez) were not worth it...

Scratch Larkin from that list.....but your point is taken. I wouldn't pay more for any of these guys than I would Guillen, and I am sure they all want more. The only alternative would be to wait for the non-tenders.

Guillen really isn't too bad when he isn't getting injured every other week. But with Tejada gone, there really aren't many better options.
